“Sickle cell affected me by me not going to school and me having lots of pain and always going to a hospital every night. An experience I had in the hospital was, they put me through lots of medications, but they didn’t work that much. […] I kept up [my school work] by doing my work in the hospital.”
In regard to how things have changed over the years
“They’ve been pretty good. So, number one, I don’t go to the hospital that much. And number two, I don’t really feel… I don’t feel weird.
I got older and my medication got bigger. […] I eat healthy. My favorite foods are broccoli, carrots and apples.”
