Well, I’ve been a nurse for 35-40 years, and I’ve specifically dedicated it to sickle cell for the last 20 years or so. This is what I tell people in the hospital, you know our nurses, ‘you should come to the clinic and just see them when they’re well.’ You know if you were in pain, how would you react? It will make you crazy.
I think through what we do here, we encourage. We’ve always said the squeaky wheel gets the grease. That’s why Cystic Fibrosis has the network they have and get the funding that they have. Because they advocate for themselves. If you can’t, your family members have to step up and your friends.
